Economy
Wood is inexpensive. The forest is a natural wood factory, producing wood using only the sun's energy. Only minimum amounts of power are required for maintaining the forest, silvaculture, tree-felling and transport. By comparison, producing a cubic meter of steel requires over 300 times more energy than for providing a cubic meter of wood. And, In processing and production, wood requires far less energy than other building materials.
