Our Wood Species
Western Red Cedar is the most popular species for building log homes. It is often called the king of logs for its beautiful looks, great thermal characteristics, light weight and resilience to weather and rot.
Spruce and Pine are two popular species because of their wonderful resilience to pests, economy , and natural brightness for appearance and interior light. Pine is also available in the new fashionable "denim" blue colour harvested from Pine Beetle forests.
Fir is the hardest and strongest species, popular for its reddish tones and greater resistance to checking (cracks). Because of its strength, Fir is used for all beams and structural components of almost all log homes.
